Manufacturer Templates are your opportunity to share your product recommendations for specific project types and uses. You can create as many of these Templates as you need. Once officially published, they'll be visible to every paid user of Project Builder & Library in the Manufacturer templates tab of their Projects list page.
Creating a Manufacturer Template is no different than creating a Project and saving it as a Template. Any Project you save as a Template is automatically added to the Manufacturer templates tab. You can update the Template at any time.
Best practices
- Start by saving all your products to your office's Favorite Products Library. Add any pricing, basis of design, substitution or other information here, and upload spec, credit, recycling and other documentation here as well. This will make it faster and easier for you to create new Manufacturer Templates quickly.
- Once you have your products and documentation stored in the Favorite Products Library, create a Project. Choose Product collection for at the top of the Project type pulldown if that's what's most relevant, or choose the Revit building type for Project type if that applies instead. You can also choose Product collection for the Project's status rather than selecting a design or construction phase.
- Be sure to enter a description either when starting the Project or when editing it later in the Project info tab. Include a representative image; a thumbnail version of that image will be visible in the Manufacturer templates tab to help people select the right Template for their own Projects.
- You do not need to include the name of your organization in the name of your Project. The Manufacturer templates tab will automatically group all of your Templates next to your organization's name.
- When you're satisfied your Project is ready to publish, select Save as Template from the kebab menu (three vertical dots) at the top right of every Project tab, or from the kebab menu in the list of Projects. Name your Template appropriately – it can have the same name as the Project – and save it. Saving it as a Template will automatically publish it to every paid user's Manufacturer templates tab.
Editing a Manufacturer Template
- From the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) at the top left of every screen, open your list of Projects and navigate to the Templates tab or the Manufacturer templates tab.
- Click on the Template name to open and edit the Template. Changes saved here will automatically apply to the published Manufacturer Template.
Deleting a Manufacturer Template
- From the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) at the top left of every screen, open your list of Projects and navigate to the Templates tab or the Manufacturer templates tab.
- Click on the kebab menu (three vertical dots) at the far right of the Template name.
- Select Delete.
- You will be asked to confirm whether you really want to delete the Template. If you confirm deletion, the Template will be deleted from both the Templates tab and the Manufacturer templates tab.
