Templates are collections of products you’ve predefined for yourself and others to use to quickly replicate work with a few clicks.
Creating a Template for future use
You can use any existing Project as the basis for future Projects by saving it as a Template. This new Template will reuse all of the products and specifications of the original.
- Open your list of Projects.
- Find the Project you want to use as a Template.
- Click the kebab menu (three vertical dots) for that Project and select Save as Template.
- A dialog box will pop up asking you to confirm the name of the Template. The Project name is the default option, but you can rename it.
- Click the blue Save Template button.
Your new Template will now be available in the Start a Project popup's Template pulldown menu. You can also find it in the Templates tab on your list of Projects.
Starting a Project from a Template
- Click the orange Start a Project button at the top right of any screen.
- Enter a name for the Project and click the Template pulldown menu to choose a pre-existing Template for your new Project.
- Fields for Project status, Project/building type, etc. will automatically fill in with information from the Template.
- Click the Save Project button to save the new Project. Everything previously defined on the Template you selected—from content on the Project info tab, to selected products, to uploads, notes and pricing—is pre-populated for you.
- Edit, delete or add more details or products unique to this specific Project.
Working with a Manufacturer Template
Manufacturer Templates are Templates with recommendations from manufacturer A&D reps that make it easy to select and specify their best products for different types of high-performance building projects. You can use these Templates as the launchpad for a Project, and can also export a Template’s product list to CSV.
Starting a Project from a Manufacturer Template
- Open your Project Library and click the Manufacturer Templates tab.
- Choose the appropriate Template by clicking the kebab menu (three vertical dots) and selecting New Project from Template.
- A window will pop up and ask you to rename your Project from the Manufacturer Template name.
- Click Create project to save this Template-based Project.
Your new Template-based Project is now ready to edit. You can add or delete details and products as needed to customize your Project to your specifications.
Exporting Manufacturer Template data as a CSV
Sometimes you don’t want to use a predefined Template, but simply want a list of recommended products direct from the manufacturer. Project Builder & Library allows you to export these lists from any Manufacturer Template.
- Open your Projects page and click the Manufacturer Templates tab.
- Choose the appropriate template by clicking the kebab menu (three vertical dots) and selecting Export to CSV.
- A window explaining what is included in the CSV will pop up.
- Use the pulldown menu to select All divisions, all products or All divisions, basis of design only.
- Click the blue Export button.
- Depending on your browser’s security settings, you may be asked to confirm you want to allow downloads from Project Builder & Library.
- Open the downloaded file with your preferred spreadsheet application.
