Project Builder & Library is available as a paid subscription with full functionality, including multiple account types and Project roles. Free accounts are also available, but have limited functionality, only one account type, and no Project roles.
Account types within paid subscriptions
Administrator accounts
Admins manage how things happen in your Project Builder & Library subscription. Account administrators can create, delete or edit any accounts in the subscription. They are the only people who can delete products from the organization Favorite Products Library by default, and they automatically have access to all Projects, including ones where the Project’s Owner has set visibility to only themselves and administrators. They have ownership rights to every Project, though their Project role is Admin unless explicitly assigned as Owner.
Each paid subscription can have an unlimited number of account administrators.
Only administrators can purchase more accounts for the organization's subscription. To purchase more accounts, contact Sustainable Minds.
Member accounts
Account members are the primary account type. They create and manage Projects. Optionally, Admins can grant Members content curation privileges to add products to or delete products from the organization's Favorite Products Library, or to add, edit and delete tags on products in Projects and Libraries.
Unlike administrators, members can be assigned different Project roles, each with different permissions. Members cannot create or delete other accounts, and can only edit their own account information.
Associate accounts
Associate accounts have limited functionality. They can only see and access Projects to which they’ve been invited or Projects whose Who can see this Project setting is "Anyone in my organization with an account." Associate account-holders can only have the Commenter role within those Projects, limiting their capabilities to the following:
- View the Project
- Comment on products
- Upload documents and images to products
- Export documents and images
- Export Projects to .CSV
Associate accounts do not have a Personal Favorite Products Library or have access to the organization's Favorite Product Library.
Only administrators can purchase associate accounts for the organization's subscription. To purchase these accounts, contact Sustainable Minds.
Project roles within paid subscriptions
Project Builder & Library supports multiple levels of access for each Project. Permissions are assigned on a per-Project basis. For example, a person with a Member account has full access to any Projects they own, but might be limited to Editor or Commenter access on somebody else’s Project.
See the table later in this document for an overview of privileges by account type and role.
Administrator accounts
Account administrators have full privileges. They automatically have access to all Projects within an organization and cannot be assigned any additional role. They have Owner-level access for every Project.
Owner
The Owner is the person who created the Project. They have full access rights to do anything within their Project.
Important: if a Project’s Owner leaves the company and their account is deleted, their Projects will be deleted as well unless other Owners have been assigned. See What happens when someone leaves your company for more information.
Editors
Editors have all of the same Project privileges as an Owner, with these exceptions:
- They cannot share the Project.
- They cannot delete the Project.
- They cannot add another Owner.
Commenters
By default, all account members in a paid subscription have Commenter access to every Project unless that Project has been marked visible only to its Owner and Account Administrators. (See How a Project is organized for more information about setting Project visibility.)
Commenters are limited to the following permissions:
- View the Project
- Comment on products
- Upload documents and images to products
- Export documents and images
- Export Projects to EC3
- Export Projects to .CSV
Invited collaborators outside of your organization who have been granted access to a Project, even if they have a paid subscription themselves, are limited to Commenter access.

*Admin accounts have full access to Projects so cannot be assigned a Project role with lesser permissions.
**Members only have this capability if an Admin grants them permission.
Free accounts
A Free account gives one person access to Projects to which they’ve been invited. The only role they can be assigned is the commenter role. People with Free accounts do not have any Favorite Product Libraries.
The owner of the Free account is considered the Account administrator, but because this is a single-person subscription, Admins cannot create Member or Associate Accounts. Full application access requires purchase of a paid subscription.
