Project Builder & Library gives you seamless integration with Building Transparency’s Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator (EC3) tool to easily plan and compare buildings. You can export any Project’s products directly to EC3 to easily compare their embodied carbon impacts.
- From your Project Library, open the Project you want to export to EC3.
- Click the EC3 tab.
- Click the blue Export button.
- A new page on buildingtransparency.org will open, prompting you to log in with your EC3 credentials or register for a new account if you don’t already have one.
- Building Transparency will ask for confirmation that you want to link your Project Builder & Library account to export your Project.
- Once you confirm, it will redirect to your EC3 tab in Project Builder & Library.
- Once you begin the export, a progress bar with an approximate completion time will appear.
- You will receive an email:
- When you start the export
- When the export is complete
- If an error occurs mid-export
- A link to view your EC3 project will appear in your EC3 tab. It is also available from the Project info tab’s EC3 tool project URL field in the Basic information section.
Add quantities in your EC3 project to plan and compare buildings. If you change your Project in Project Builder & Library and run another export, it will create a new EC3 project you can compare to previous versions.
Exporting to EC3 Pilot accounts
If your EC3 account has Pilot access, you will be able to export any products with EPDs available only in EC3's Pilot accounts. EC3 users with a lower level of access will not be able to export these products from Project Builder & Library, although other products with publicly available EPDs will be exported.
